Wisdom Mind

I’ve been trying a new practice that I learned from the book Dante’s Path: Vulnerability and the Spiritual Journey by Bonney Schaub. This practice helps me tap into my wisdom mind in order to find the answers to my questions. Last night, I asked myself what I should focus on to reach my highest potential.
The practice asked me to visualize a wise figure on a path, a path I had either been on or could imagine, and to ask the figure my question.
I first pictured the Magic Guardian angel from Angels and Ancestors Oracle by Kyle Gray. She was on a dirt path beside a creek. Her answer to my question was, “Use your magic.” Then she stepped aside and faded away, and the Direction Guardian angel from the same deck appeared. It felt as though the Magic Guardian angel had called him in. He said that I could stay on the path by the creek, and he let me feel the cool path under my feet and the sunlight dappled through the trees. Another path then appeared that wound up a hill. As I felt myself going up that new path, I started sweating, I felt sick, and I became agitated in the blazing hot sun. Then I was suddenly back on the path by the creek again, feeling calm and comfortable.
When I came out of the vision, these were my thoughts: If I stay by the creek and enjoy the calm, soft breeze by the water, I’m being true to my calm, peaceful nature. If I force myself up a hill not meant for me, I will become an agitated version of myself.
Most of us have heard that, in order to succeed, we must step out of our comfort zones. That is often true, especially when we find ourselves stuck in procrastination and stagnation. But it is also true that we must honor our unique journey, and recognize that another person’s path to success may not be ours.
